Mumbo Jumbo

This was a major renovation and revival of an existing two story residence with a timber frame. It’s a multi stepped building that is anchored into the earth and branches up to balconies in the tree canopy. Incorporating rammed earth, polished concrete and a central fire place with associated thermal mass for heating. Timber, masonry & steel collaborate within this structure, whilst maintaining a bushfire sensitive design. A high regard was given to northern light and shade, as well as emphasising vistas from the different spaces to the spectacular surrounding forested hill.
